In June 2026, the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) will bring AdventureELEVATE Latin America to Perú, convening global adventure travel professionals in one of the world’s most biodiverse and culturally rich destinations. Designed as a regional gathering focused on connection, learning, and market-relevant insight, the event will spotlight Perú’s leadership in sustainable, nature-based, and community-centered tourism across the Latin American adventure travel ecosystem.

Hosted by PROMPERÚ, the country’s official tourism promotion agency, AdventureELEVATE will strengthen regional engagement while welcoming global participants eager to understand local markets, build partnerships, and explore emerging opportunities. As adventure travel continues to grow across Latin America alongside rising commitments to conservation and community benefit, Perú provides an ideal setting for this exchange.

A Destination Defined by Diversity and Depth

Few countries offer the breadth of experiences found in Perú. From the high Andes to the Amazon Basin, from coastal deserts to volcanic valleys, Perú’s landscapes support an extraordinary range of adventure activities rooted in both nature and culture. AdventureELEVATE Latin America 2026 will place a special focus on southern Perú, highlighting destinations where adventure tourism is actively contributing to sustainable development.

The Arequipa region, often called the “White City” for its volcanic stone architecture, stands out as a centerpiece. Anchored by a UNESCO-recognized Historic Center, Arequipa is a gateway to iconic natural areas including Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world, and the Volcanoes Valley, dominated by peaks such as Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu. These landscapes support trekking, mountaineering, cycling, rafting, rock climbing, and birdwatching, while also offering rich cultural and culinary traditions.

Colca Canyon and the surrounding valley have earned international recognition through the Green Destinations program, reflecting a long-term commitment to sustainability, conservation, and responsible visitor management. These efforts are reinforced by Perú’s national tourism hierarchy system, which has awarded its highest distinction to both the Colca Valley and Arequipa’s Historic Center.

Community-Based Tourism at the Core

One of the defining themes of AdventureELEVATE Latin America 2026 will be community-based tourism, a model that Perú has been actively advancing across rural regions. Communities offer immersive experiences that connect travelers directly with local livelihoods, traditions, and stewardship of natural resources. These initiatives demonstrate how adventure travel can support economic resilience while preserving cultural identity.

Beyond Arequipa, Perú’s broader adventure landscape will inform discussions and programming, from Amazonian regions like Madre de Dios and Loreto, known for wildlife viewing and rainforest exploration, and high-altitude trekking destinations in Áncash and Huascarán National Park. Together, these regions illustrate how adventure travel plays a significant, and growing, role in Perú’s tourism economy.
